Pyörre-house
Aulis Lundell Oy and architect Matti Kuittinen are responsible for implementing the low-carbon circular economy model house Pyörre for the Lohja Housing Fair in summer 2021. The foundation work of the house is ongoing and steel-framed undersole elements are being assembled at the Lundell plant.
Matti Kuittinen develops a method for calculating the carbon footprint of buildings at the Ministry of the Environment and tests it in the design of the Vortex House.
The building's structural solutions are based on Aulis Lundell Oy's long-term product development and production.
The round shape of the Pyörre house is possible thanks to the body material.
"As a material, steel is the best for such organic forms. It bends and implements all the requirements for comfort, durability and eco-friendliness throughout the building's life cycle. Thanks to its strength, steel is lighter in use than other materials and 100% recyclable. Similarly, its sound management and fire safety features are superior," says Leena Lundell, CEO of Aulis Lundell Oy.
In the future, construction must also be revitalizing its surroundings. The aim is to implement this in yard design in the case of the Pyörre house. Carbon sinks are created in the yard with the help of plants, biocarics and recycled concrete crush.
All climate actions matter, and the design of Pyörre provides good additional information on the relative significance and costs of different measures in achieving the climate goals of construction.
